SATA currently is available in two variants:- SATA-150 - capable of 1.5 Gb/s (or 150 MB/s)
- SATA-300 - capable of 3.0 Gb/s (or 300 MB/s)
A common misconception is that SATA I means 1.5 Gb/s and SATA II means 3 Gb/s. This is not accurate and can lead to some confusion. The term 'SATA' should encompass both variants and, where necessary, should be used in conjuction with an indicator for the compliance level (i.e. speed).

(ii) Multi-lane 4x SATA cables (also known as Inifiniband cables. These cables can be used with SAS systems).
